A province-wide network of certified individuals who share their skills in food and nutrition within their own communities. The goal of this program is to develop a network of dedicated food mentors in New Brunswick communities through a shared learning experience that will increase the exchange of information on food skills, healthy eating practices and local food sourcing in the province.
Community Food Smart is a bulk food buying club for individuals and families keen on purchasing quality fruits and vegetables at affordable prices, sourced from local farmers when possible. Community Food Smart operates through a network of community partners who collect orders, provide volunteers, and distribute food bags to their members each month. Community Food Smart operates through a network of community partners who collect orders, provide volunteers, and distribute food bags to their members each month. Members can place an order for one or two fresh produce bags a month. Volunteers help sort and pack bags for same day delivery. Bag inserts provide useful information and recipes.
In the Capital Region, Community Food Smart currently serves Fredericton, Oromocto, Nackawic, Kingsclear, Chipman, Minto, Fredericton Junction, Geary and Stanley.
ECAAIR Canada administers 3 main programs to offer activities that support and promote health, peace and human rights. The three main programs are: the ‘‘I am Me’’ Youth Project; Peace Education; and Prevention and Capacity Building.

Farm to Cafeteria programs connect farms to fork bringing local, nutritious and sustainably produced foods into public agencies – places where we learn, work, are healed and play. Farm to School, Farm to University, and Farm to Hospital are all Farm to Cafeteria programs (differentiated primarily by their settings). These programs are an essential component of strong, resilient, and sustainable, regional food systems – systems that contribute to the health of people, place, and the planet. All Farm to Cafeteria programs share a common goal: to increase access to fresh, locally and sustainably grown, nutritious, safe, and culturally appropriate foods in public agencies. And all aspire to a common set of objectives:
The City of Fredericton Age-Friendly Community Advisory Committee is a sub-committee of Fredericton City Council. The committee is comprised of a cross-section of individual seniors, representatives of seniors groups, a city councilor and agency representatives who are committed to working towards the betterment of life for seniors in the community. The mandate of Age-Friendly Fredericton is: to advise City Council, through its Standing Committees, on matters presently under consideration by City staff and Council that impact the quality of life of seniors in Fredericton; to work cooperatively with Council through the Community Services Committee and municipal departments by providing advice and information on the City’s policies, programs and service delivery that affect seniors, e.g. recreation, access to municipal services, healthy aging, municipal planning, etc; to encourage and facilitate dialogue throughout the community regarding municipal matters that directly impact seniors; to act as a forum for feedback from seniors on municipal matters that directly impact their daily lives; and to be guided by the World Health Organization’s framework for age-friendly cities.
The Boys & Girls Club of Fredericton is a charitable, community supported organization founded in 1968. They are committed to transforming the lives of children, youth and their families including those most vulnerable, by providing safe places and offering services and programs designed to meet the evolving needs of the community.

The City of Fredericton, through the Age-Friendly Community Advisory Committee, has worked collaboratively to compile information that would foster awareness on programs and services for seniors in the Fredericton area. The Guide is sorted by programs and services offered by the Government of Canada, the Government of New Brunswick, and the City of Fredericton’s local government. The Guide also includes a last section with “Other” services and programs offered in the area relating to education, health and community groups.
