Fredericton Makerspace 

The Fredericton Makerspace is lead by a small group of local ‘Makers’ with a common goal: create a setting which fosters learning, creativity, and collaboration. Makerspace offers a wide range of tools and equipment that members can use to create their own projects. The Makerspace has many key woodworking shop tools, a Makerbot 3-D printer, Arduino microprocessors and peripheral accessories, sewing machines and computers. They also offer the only public-access screen-printing facility in the city – you or your organization can print your own custom t-shirts, tote bags, and more. At the core of any Makerspace is the sharing of knowledge and skills.

Friends of Mactaquac Park

The Friends of Mactaquac Park is a volunteer group working on supporting and preserving the health, wellness and viability of Mactaquac Provincial Park through advocacy, promotion, education and recreation. Objectives: create, promote and help facilitate cultural, recreational and environmental events at Mactaquac Provincial Park; create, promote and assist with environmental education programs for all ages at MPP; promote and facilitate upgrades and general maintenance of the existing trails system, including paths, boardwalks, and rest/viewing areas, and to improve directional, informational and interpretive signage; create, promote and assist with developing new recreational opportunities along with improving and maintaining existing venues and equipment.

Members of the Good Food Greater Fredericton network share a passion for building a sustainable local food system. GFGF helps to connect individuals who are interested in rewriting the story of how we grow, share, produce and distribute food in our region. They believe that by mobilizing citizen action we can build support for a food system in which everyone in the region has access to affordable, healthy, safe food that is produced, processed and distributed in socially, economically, and ecologically sustainable ways. Greater Fredericton Food Charter

A Food Charter is a vision of values, principles and priorities that address food security. Community members, food distributors, food producers, institutions and policy-makers can endorse the charter by signing it and voluntarily committing to actions that will uphold the principles that are outlined. Good Food Greater Fredericton has been working  with the help of its many partners and community members throughout the region to create a Greater Fredericton Food Charter. This toolkit is laid out in a way that helps you identify resources that will help you to enact each of the six Food Charter principles, including: Social Justice, Health Promotion, Sustainability, Community Development, Collaboration & Participation and Celebration. Anyone who eats food in the Greater Fredericton region may find this toolkit useful for becoming a more informed and engaged food citizen. Greater Fredericton Social Innovation

Greater Fredericton Social Innovation Inc. (GFSI) is a social planning council that works to strengthen our community by focusing collective efforts and resources on community defined goals. GFSI was developed to fill the need for long-term social planning in the Fredericton region. GFSI adapted the successful model used by the Human Development Council in Saint John and other social planning councils across the country to facilitate action aimed at making our community a better place to live, work and play.

The mission of GFSI is to enable a process through which diverse stakeholders work together openly, collaboratively and strategically towards a shared common future. GFSI supports the community to maximize its potential by

  • facilitating collective decision making,
  • establishing a clear and shared vision of community priorities,
  • coordinating collaborative work across sectors,
  • offering broad avenues for civic engagement,
  • taking strategic action for the next generation

Greener Village Community Food Centre

Greener Village is a community food centre that increases food security in the Fredericton Area through its inclusive programs and services. The centre serves as a gathering place to nurture health and wellness. In partnership with the community, they aim to develop the life skills and supportive relationships that will strengthen the ability for the community to look after one another. Each month the centre helps over 1000 families (approximately 3000 people, 39% of which are children). They believe that access to healthy food is a basic human right. Their Four Pillars are: Food Bank and Clothing Boutique; Teaching Kitchen; Community Gardens; Education.

The Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick manages the Live Well | Bien Vivre health coaching program. The mission of HSFNB is to promote health, save lives, and enhance recovery. Live Well | Bien Vivre is driven by this mission and is highly effective both for our clients and for the health care system. Our success is thanks to plenty of research, development, and ongoing training.

Multicultural Association of Fredericton

Formed in 1974, the Multicultural Association of Fredericton Inc. (MCAF) plays a vital role in establishing communication and fostering understanding between the community, settled immigrants and newcomers. MCAF accomplishes this by offering programs and services that meet the following goals: to encourage and promote the concept of diversity and inclusion; to provide newcomers to Canada with settlement services, language instruction, employment services, and community networking; to create an inclusive and welcoming community.

Nashwaak Watershed Association

The Nashwaak Watershed Association Inc. is a non-profit organization which started in 1995. The association is involved in such things as the Atlantic Salmon Federation’s Fish Friends program, raising early-run, fall-fed salmon fry to augment natural spawning, smolt rearing to sexual maturity in fresh water for a gene banking program, eroding river bank restoration by tree planting, water sampling, participation in crown forest land lease advisory groups, trail improvement, salmon smolt assessment, downstream smolt passage improvement on the Saint John River system, and various other programs concerning protection of the  Nashwaak Watershed and its ecosystem. The Nashwaak Watershed is a non-profit organization which means that its members  and volunteers are a fundamental part of their success. Their Mission: The Nashwaak River watershed should be managed as a healthy ecosystem that balances a variety of economic, recreational, social and landowner interests. All stakeholders on the Nashwaak are committed to sustaining the scenic and serene nature of the watershed in a manner consistent with the pursuits of all user groups. The Nashwaak River watershed should serve the community while maintaining a healthy resource for generations to come.
